Sciton BBL

scitonlogoSciton BBL is a non-invasive skin treatment that uses light energy at various wavelengths to correct a number of different skin conditions and help you achieve a more even complexion.

When to Choose Sciton BBL

By harnessing the power of broadband light, the Sciton BBL laser can effectively get rid of:

  • Age spots
  • Freckles
  • Melasma
  • Spider veins
  • Vascular birthmarks (cherry angiomas, port wine stains and telangiectasias)
  • Other skin discolorations

It is also a great treatment for acne and rosacea and can even be used for permanent hair reduction.

If you are bothered by your ruddy, flushed or uneven complexion or wish to permanently reduce dark hair on your face or body, treatment with the Sciton BBL may be the best choice. Visit Dr. McMenamin’s Sacramento skin rejuvenation clinic for a complete skin evaluation to determine if Sciton BBL or another laser treatment is right for you.

What to Expect During Your Sciton BBL Treatment

To prepare for Sciton BBL laser treatment, your skin will be cleansed, and you will be fitted with eye protection. The Sciton BBL device will deliver pulses of broadband laser light to the treatment area(s), which may include the face, neck, chest and/or hands. There is little to no discomfort typically reported with this procedure, and a built-in cooling device on the Sciton BBL device ensures that the light energy does not overheat your skin during treatment.

Recovery and Results

There is no downtime or recovery period with Sciton BBL treatment, so you can go back to work and your normal daily activities immediately following the procedure. It is best to use sun protection and avoid excessive sun exposure after having BBL treatment, in order to preserve your results and prevent sun damage.

Immediately following treatment, areas of hyperpigmentation or redness may become more pronounced but will eventually flake off to reveal even, smooth skin within about a week. A series of three to six treatments is usually recommended to achieve optimal results.

Dr. McMenamin will recommend skin care products and sunscreen that will help you maintain your BBL results and minimize temporarily increased redness or darkening after treatment.
