ProFractional

Sciton's ProFractional Laser stands out among the best of the cosmetic laser treatments because of its ability to provide maximum skin rejuvenation benefits with very few risks and little downtime.

When to Choose the ProFractional Laser

The versatility of the ProFractional Laser makes it a great choice for patients who have a variety of aging skin issues or other cosmetic skin concerns. It can be performed as a single treatment or as a series of treatments and can also be combined with Sciton BBL and SkinTyte treatments for comprehensive skin rejuvenation.

ProFractional laser skin resurfacing is ideal for addressing any of the following problems:

  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Sun damage
  • Uneven pigmentation
  • Rough skin
  • Acne
  • Acne scars
  • Mild skin laxity

What to Expect During Your ProFractional Laser Treatment

Before your ProFractional Laser treatment begins, your face will be cleansed, and depending on the aggressiveness of your procedure, a numbing cream may be applied. Once your skin is prepped, Dr. McMenamin will pass the ProFractional Laser over the treatment area, which may include all or part of your face, as well as your neck, chest and/or hands.

The ProFractional Laser is a fractionated Erbium YAG laser, which means that it gently ablates, or vaporizes, small columns of skin tissue instead of the entire surface of the skin. This promotes faster healing and results in significantly less downtime than traditional CO2 laser resurfacing, while still creating optimal skin rejuvenation results.

Recovery and Results

The recovery period after ProFractional Laser treatment is typically brief and involves only a few temporary side effects such as mild swelling and redness. Correcting acne scars and deep wrinkles will generally require more aggressive treatments that result in a few days to a week of downtime, whereas treating more superficial problems like sun damage and fine lines will result in little to no downtime.

You will start seeing ProFractional Laser results within a week of your first treatment, and your skin will continue to improve as new collagen growth continues over the next several months. Dr. McMenamin may recommend anywhere from one to four treatments with the ProFractional Laser depending on your cosmetic goals.
