Face and Neck Lift
Procedure: Tightens
the deep muscular layer of the neck and lower two thirds of the face, removes
excess skin and fat from the outer face and neck, reduces and smoothes the lower
jaw (jowls) and double chin or "turkey waddle." Incisions are hidden
under the chin, in front of and behind the ears, and into or along the hairline
behind the ear. Takes years off the outer and lower face and neck.
Length of surgery:
Approximately three hours in our accredited outpatient office surgery suite.
Anesthesia:
Local anesthesia with monitored IV sedation.
Side effects:
Bruising, swelling, numbness about the incisions (usually temporary), discomfort
(usually minimal)
Risks/Complications:
Excessive bleeding, infection, permanent numbness, permanent nerve damage of the
face (rare), excessive or unacceptable scarring, infection, reaction to
anesthesia.
Recovery time:
Ten to fourteen days to return to sedentary work and activities. Advance
activities as tolerated after two weeks, including exercise.
Permanence:
Lasts for years, depending on normal aging process.
