Chin Augmentation (Correction of
Small or Receding Chin)
Procedure:
Surgical placement of a solid silicone rubber implant onto the chin to make the
chin appear more prominent or larger. Can be accomplished through an incision
that is placed under the chin or inside the mouth below the lower teeth.
Length of treatment: Approximately
2 hours in our accredited office surgical suite.
Anesthesia: Local
anesthesia with monitored IV sedation.
Side effects: Bruising,
swelling, numbness
Risks/Complications: Infection,
bleeding, asymmetry, bone loss, permanent numbness, scarring, unacceptable
result.
Recovery: One
week to return to sedentary work. Two weeks to return to active work and
exercise.
Permanence: Permanent
results barring complications.
