Dysport
Dysport® is an injectable, prescription medication that treats frown lines. If you are unhappy with the site of frown lines between your eyebrows, you now have a non-surgical treatment option with Dysport.
When To Choose Dysport®
If you want to see fewer lines and wrinkles when you look in the mirror, you may be considering an injectable treatment. Consider Dysport if you want to diminish:
- Crow's feet,
- Horizontal creases on the forehead
- Vertical lines on the forehead, between the eyes
Dysport is an injectable botulinum toxin treatment. Like other botulinum toxin treatments, it causes a temporary paralysis in the muscles that cause lines and wrinkles. Once the muscles are still, the appearance of these lines is diminished.
Don’t choose Dysport if you are allergic to the protein in cow’s milk. It’s also not a good choice if you’ve had a reaction to another type of botulinum toxin product, or if you are nursing or pregnant. Dysport has risks, especially for patients who have a history of breathing problems. What To Expect During Your Dysport Treatment
When you see Dr. McMenamin for Dysport treatments, you may receive a series of brief injections on your forehead. At least five injections must be made to reduce the frown lines between the eyebrows. Additional injections may be made if Dr. McMenamin is using Dysport to target and treat crow's feet and horizontal forehead wrinkles. Many Dysport treatments can be done without any discomfort, but you may experience a mild sting, and possibly some temporary swelling and redness at the site of the injections.
Recovery and Results
After your Dysport treatment, you can return to work and most activities right away. You will start to see results in the days after your treatment. The full effects of Dysport are visible two weeks after treatment.
The results of your Dysport treatment should last three months, and may last as long as four to five months. You must wait at least 90 days between Dysport treatments. If you like the results of your Dysport injections, and choose to get follow-up injections, those future treatments should be as effective as the original treatment at reducing facial wrinkles that are caused by muscle action.
